Dick Jenkins

SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- Richard "Dick" Jenkins, 65, of West Road, died peacefully, surrounded by his family Thursday, May 11, 2006, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born Dec. 8, 1940, in South Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Raymond Jenkins and Ruth (Gibson) Jenkins.

Richard graduated from South Glens Falls High School, Class of 1958, and also attended Clarkson University.

He married Patricia Davis in Queens, N.Y. on May 25, 1963.

Richard worked at Jenkins' Radio and Adirondack 2-Way Radio for many years, and retired from Niagara Mohawk in 1998.

He enjoyed model railroads, photography, computer programming, jazz music and was an amateur radio operator. He was a volunteer for Tour to Cure. Richard was actively devoted to finding a cure for cancer. He designated several of his computers to run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to analyze data used in cancer research. He was also a member of the Bridgeline Historical Society.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his aunt, Winifred Gibson.

Survivors besides his wife of 42 years, Patricia Jenkins of South Glens Falls, include his children, Roberta "Robin" Vogt and her husband, Randall, of Clifton Park, and Lori Jenkins-Davis and her husband, James, of Latham; his sister, Barbara Bruce and her husband, Robert, of Salisbury, N.C., formerly of Rome, N.Y.; his nieces, Deborah Rojas, Carolyn Haug, and Susan Bruce; and several great-nieces, and one great-nephew; and several cousins.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2006. at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., South Glens Falls. For condolences, www.kilmers.com.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Ballard Road, Wilton, with the Rev. Patti Girard, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery, Queensbury.

Following the services, family and friends are invited for a gathering at the home of Patricia Jenkins.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Glens Falls Hospital and the Brigham Woman's Hospital, Boston, Mass., for all of their care and concern.
