The upper structure of The Station at Citigroup. Designed by noted Broadway set designer, Clark Dunham, The Station was commissioned by Citicorp
for display at their New York City Headquarters on Third Avenue during the Christmas Holiday Season. Underneath this canopy is a model railroad
layout in 3 scales, HO, S and O.
Even the Delaware & Hudson Railroad is represented at the Station with this photograph of a D&H passenger train, pulled by a Baldwin Shark engine.
Mr. Dunham has included his interpretation of New York City to the Catskill and Adirondack
Mountains and the upstate communities in between.
He has included representations of both main-line railroads and the many short lines that used to dominate the state.
Even a carnival is included in the layout, depicting life in the smaller communities.
Photograph of a small portion of the giant layout on the campus of RPI in Troy, NY. It is a must see! The gentleman standing there is a friend with
whom I often do railfanning and go with to model train shows. His name is Ed Murray and he is also an ex-NiMo employee. He is now employed by the parent
company, National Grid.
This portion of the layout, although unfinished, shows the modeling expertise of the RPI students, in the model of the old Saratoga
Springs, NY Railroad Station.
This is the one area that was finished when we visited on October 19, 2002. It represents the Willsboro Bay area of the D&H Railroad along Lake Champlain.
The students went out into Lake Champlain and photographed the area then came back and built it. Everything on the layout has been thoroughly
researched.
This photograph was taken on November 22, 2003 at a narrow gauge train show in
Massachusetts. My railbus put in a guest appearance on the
portable HOn30 layout.
That is in fact a model of Nubble Light, with the passage way modified to curve the other way. Nice idea. There's that railbus again.
This is a photo I took on June 14, 2003 at an acquaintance's home in Connecticut, showing one of his HOn30 locomotives with a short train,
typical of what one might have seen on the prototype.
