A colorful tree.

A colorful fungus

This photo is a colorful picture of a fungus on a tree that my brother Henry took near the Catskill Game Farm in 1955. Fungi and mushrooms are a favorite photographic subject of mine as you will see from many photos I have taken.

Mariaville Lake

A Winter Scene

A dramatic scene at Mariaville Lake after a devastating ice storm. Here you see Mother Frieda and brother Henry walking toward me.

Petrified Gardens

Petrified Gardens gate.

The Petrified Gardens

The Petrified Sea Gardens near Saratoga Springs, NY was the site of an ancient warm inland sea. You can see fossil stromatolites from 500 million years ago and glacial standing stones such as the one I am sitting on.

Central Park

Shirley with lilacs

My favorite outfit

The view on the left is Central Park in Schenectady with the park casino in the background. In the Winter this slope (much steeper than it appears) is a favorite for the neighborhood children for sledding, with Iroquois Lake open for skating. The right hand photo is, of course, me surrounded by a fragrant halo of blooming lilacs in our yard. By the way, these photos were taken with the original Kodachrome with a film speed of 10! about a half century ago.

A Fall scene.

A study in blue.

Here I am again!

A Fall scene with me surrounded by colorful leaves from the maple in our front yard. This was taken before the addition to our home was built in 1959 since you can still see the porch. On the right is a photo of my oil painting of a field of bluebells. No sign of homes across the street - it was quite rural in those days. We did not have school buses; walking to John Bigsbee School, about six blocks, or the 2.2 miles to Draper High School was the custom. To go to Draper (from the Bigsbee stop) via the Schenectady Railway Company bus cost a five cents token (which you had to purchase at the Company office at downtown State Street).
